What to Bring for Your 2026 Tax Return: Printable Checklists
Pick the list that fits you, tick off each document as you find it, then print or save it as a PDF. Nothing you check is sent anywhere. It all stays in your browser.
W-2 employee checklist
For people whose income is mostly from a job, plus any savings, investments or side income.
For owners of a corporation or LLC that elected S corporation status. The business files Form 1120-S, and your share flows to your personal return on a K-1.
Checklists are a general guide, not tax advice. Your return may need other documents.
Frequently asked questions
What documents do I need to file my taxes?
Everyone needs ID, Social Security numbers for everyone on the return, last year’s return and every income form (W-2s, 1099s). Then add the documents for deductions and credits that apply to you, like mortgage interest, childcare costs or business expenses. Pick the checklist above that fits your situation.
Is my checklist saved or sent anywhere?
No. Your ticks are stored only in this browser on this device so you can come back to them. Nothing is sent to Enhance Finance or anyone else.
When will I get my W-2 and 1099 forms?
Employers must give you your 2026 W-2 by Feb. 1, 2027, and payers must send 1099-NECs by the same date. Some 1099s, like brokerage statements, can come later in February.
I’m self-employed. Do I need receipts for everything?
You need records that prove your income and expenses. Bank and card statements help, but receipts, invoices and a mileage log are the best support if the IRS ever asks.
How do I send my documents to Enhance Finance?
Use our secure upload page. Please don’t email Social Security numbers, IDs or tax forms.
